LIHEAP energy assistance open now through April

Pennsylvania’s Department of Human Services (DHS) resumed the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) earlier this month.

LIHEAP serves low-income households that earn less than 150% of the federal poverty level, helping to pay energy bills. For a household with one family member, that’s about $23,000 a year. About 300,000 eligible Pennsylvanians use the program annually.

Benefits were delayed this year due to the federal government shutdown and lack of federal funding. The LIHEAP season is open through April 10, 2026, during which greater Glenside residents can apply for a one-time cash grant between $200 to $1,000 to help pay heating bills.

The grant will be sent directly to your utility provider or fuel company to be credited on your bill.
