La Salle College baseball to play for PIAA championship on Thursday, LAX to play state semifinal tonight

La Salle College High School is one victory from a second PIAA state baseball championship in four years, and the Explorers’ lacrosse team is playing tonight in the state semifinals.

The baseball team is on a 13-game win streak after Monday’s 10-4 win over District 2 champ Hazleton. The 24-3 Explorers will play in Thursday’s Class 6A title game against District 3 champion Hempfield at Penn State at 4:30pm.

“It’s what you work for all year,” senior outfielder Liam Hawley told PhillyBurbs.com. “We got the PCL (champion)ship. Now we just got to get one more game.”

The lacrosse team took home their eighth consecutive Pennsylvania Catholic League title after defeating St. Joseph’s Prep 11-3 in the PCL’s championship game in May.
