The Cheltenham Township Board of Commissioners authorized next steps for the La Mott Community Center Restoration Rehabilitation Project during their December 18 meeting at Curtis Hall.
According to Megan Hart, the township’s Community Development Coordinator, those steps include developing an estimate of costs, a schematic design, and related construction documents.
The final design and request for proposals will be reviewed and then presented to the Finance Committee and Board of Commissioners in February 2025 prior to authorization.
The schematic design, design development, and preparation of construction documents will be developed over the next six to twelve months, Hart told Glenside Local in an email. Community meetings will continue to be held to garner public feedback and involvement.
In March, Congresswoman Madeleine Dean announced $3,828,500 in funding for the project.
The center closed its operations in December 2022 due to maintenance concerns with the building.
