The Cheltenham Township Police Department announced today that officers were dispatched to the Wawa at 8250 Limekiln Pike in Wyncote for a report of a retail theft in progress on Sunday, April 13 around 10:30am.
According to the announcement, officers stopped a white Nissan Sentra as it was attempting to leave the store. Seven occupants who ranged in age from 15 to 21 (three juveniles in total) were removed from the vehicle after officers observed one of them attempting to hide a firearm under a seat.
The occupants were taken into custody without incident or force, and the vehicle was impounded and searched through a warrant, police said. The search revealed three loaded “ghost guns” (firearms without serial numbers), two of which had been illegally modified to fire fully automatic.
Officers also found a large quantity of marijuana, vehicle key fob programming equipment, and various merchandise stolen from Wawa.

This case remains under investigation by Cheltenham detectives. Anyone who may have information about this incident is asked to call 215.885.1600 x400 or by submitting information via policetips@cheltenhampa.gov.
