Juveniles issue fraudulent threats directed at elementary school students, Hatboro police investigating

The Hatboro Police Department announced today that officials were notified by multiple parties regarding threats via Snapchat directed toward students at Crooked Billet Elementary School (Hatboro-Horsham School District) on the evening of Wednesday, February 12.

An investigation determined the Snapchat account was fraudulent and purporting to be an uninvolved third party, the department said. Those responsible for the threats were identified as juveniles and interviewed by police.

“Through our investigation it was determined there was no threat to the students or faculty of Crooked Billet Elementary which would necessitate any changes to the normal school schedule,” the department said. “The Hatboro Police Department and the Hatboro Horsham School District are committed to the safety and well-being of the Hatboro Horsham Community and work hand in hand when situations such as these take place. We appreciate your patience and understanding as these types of incidents can be stressful for students and families.”

The investigation is ongoing so the identities of those involved are not being released at this time. Additional information will be provided by the Hatboro Police Department at the conclusion of the investigation.
