Joan Liehe, a former instrumental music teacher in the Cheltenham Township School District, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Friday, August 20. She was 83 years old.

Mrs. Liehe, a resident of Glenside, taught music in Bolivia through the Peace Corps, in Philadelphia schools, and in Rowland Elementary and Cedarbrook Middle Schools, retiring in 1997 after 25 years of service.

Her partner, Elayne Aion, is the former owner of The Dovetail Artisans in Glenside, retiring in 2021. They were legally married on November 22, 2014.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, November 2 in Glenside and will be livestreamed for those who would like to attend from afar. More details will follow on her obituary page and on her CaringBridge page.
