Chief Ken Lynch of the Jenkintown Fire Department announced today the outcome of negotiations regarding the future of the company.
According to Chief Lynch’s statement, the Independent and Pioneer fire companies will operationally consolidate and will continue to operate from their respective stations, now unified under the Jenkintown Fire Department.
The consolidation will be official as of Wednesday, November 15. Pioneer will transition from State 96 to Station 99A and Independent will transition from Station 16 to Station 99B.
“This strategic move aims to strengthen our ability to respond promptly and effectively to emergencies within our community,” the statement said.
It continues:
“The consolidation will streamline resources, improve coordination, and foster a more cohesive and collaborative environment amongst our firefighting crew. … We would like to assure our community members that this consolidation is a proactive step to enhance our capabilities and is in no way a reduction of services.”
Leadership from both companies have been in talks for years to unify organizationally by creating standard operating procedures and training requirements shared by both companies. For our coverage of the Jenkintown Borough Fire Commission’s February meeting, you can click here.
