Montgomery County commissioners, state and local officials, and transit advocates will hold a rally at the Jenkintown-Wyncote station (2 Greenwood Avenue, Wyncote) on Thursday, May 29 from 4:30pm to 5:45pm.
The rally is intended to bring additional awareness to the service cuts and fare increases proposed by SEPTA and will take place as thousands travel to Citizens Bank Park to watch the Phillies take on the Atlanta Braves in Game 3 of the series.
“Service reductions beginning in August and a 9 p.m. curfew in January due to SEPTA’s funding crisis,” Montgomery County officials said in a statement. “Residents who attend evening sporting events and concerts in the city are on deck to lose their ride home if Harrisburg fails to address SEPTA’s $213 million budget shortfall.”
In related news, a Change.org petition titled “Secure Funding for SEPTA, Halt Service Reductions and Fare Increment” is circulating in response to SEPTA’s Proposed Fiscal Year 2026 Operating Budget.
