The Jenkintown School District administration put out an email to district families detailing this year’s Color Day festivities. Here it is:
Color Day will take place on Friday May 27.
Elementary students will arrive at school at the normal time and go directly to their classroom. Middle/High School students will arrive at 8:15 AM and go directly to homeroom for attendance. Members of the band will then be dismissed to get their instruments for the parade.
The whole district parade will begin at 8:45 AM on West Avenue in front of the elementary school building. Students will line up by grade level and according to their color (Red/Blue). The parade will go down Florence Avenue, make a left on Greenwood Avenue, and then make a left onto Highland Avenue as everyone enters the stadium for our competition.
There will be designated standing/seating areas for parents/guardians/community members so please make sure to stay behind the barriers and off of the track throughout the event.
All Color Day events should conclude by 11:15 AM and all students will be dismissed for the weekend at the conclusion of the events. (Specific information pertaining to elementary student dismissal procedures will be sent home by classroom teachers and the administration in the next few weeks.) Physical education teachers will be organizing and practicing events with the students during the next few weeks.
Please note that our Raindate will be Friday June 3. Should inclement weather force the postponement of Color Day, an announcement will be made via our OnecallNow system either during the evening of May 26 or by 6:30 AM on Friday May 27. A postponement of Color Day would mean a full day of classes on Friday May 27 and a traditional Color Day schedule on June 3. As we get closer to Color Day, the principals and teachers will share updates/changes via newsletters, but for now, find your red or blue clothing and face paint and let’s all celebrate the return of that very special tradition known as Color Day!
