This week’s report spotlights the continuing prevalence of online theft but also an old-fashion check forgery.
- Fraud: 3-8-19 at 4pm: A resident in the 200 block of Mather Road reported that his airline ticket account was hacked and purchases of tickets in excess of $5,000 was purchased. Detective unit traced the phone number used in the fraud and the purchases originated from Tel Aviv.
- Theft/ forgery/fraud: 3-5-19, 2pm: Marie Evelise Hopkins, of the 4900 block of Longshore Avenue, Philadelphia was arrested by warrant at her home by JPD officers as a result of an investigation from 2017, involving theft, fraud and forgery of checks. Hopkins was transported to district court 38-1-02 and bail was set at $10,000 unsecured.
- Device fraud: 3-4-19 at 5:19pm: A resident in the 200 block of Mather Road reported two cell phones were purchased using his information. Verizon and JPD detective unit investigating.
