Jenkintown PD featured on FOX29 News for Kia/Hyundai theft prevention efforts

The Jenkintown Police Department was recently featured on FOX29 News for their efforts in deterring further thefts to certain Kia and Hyundai models.

The Borough has has received a shipment of steering wheel locks on behalf of Hyundai. The locks are available to all Jenkintown residents who own a Hyundai.

“They provided us with about 48 locks and we’ve given away about 10 already,” chief Tom Scott, who is pictures above, said. “You can see that people are really concerned about losing their vehicle.”

Data indicates that since January 1, more than 2,500 vehicles have been reported stolen.

“25 years we’ve been doing this, we’ve never had this many stolen cars in our area,” Scott said.
