Like the weather, everyone complains about a lack of parking. Unlike the weather, Attorney David Ferleger did something about it.
David practices law in the old Times Chronicle building in the center of Jenkintown, directly across from a 20-spot parking lot that extends behind Yorkway Place between York Road and Johnson Street which he also owns.
Until last month, he rented the spaces on a monthly basis, but sensing the demand for increased parking in the district, he changed the model. Today, you can park there on an hourly basis, paying for the space using an automated kiosk. Leases with existing monthly customers have been gradually renegotiated.
“People need the space,” David told GlensideLocal. “When they drive along York Road, they don’t see any available lots.” The Borough does operate a large lot on Leedom Street and have posted signs for it, but “If people just want to stop and get something to eat, they don’t see a place to park their car.”

The cost varies by time of day. Three hours in the morning start at $3.50 and overnight costs $8.00. You may extend time using a smartphone.
David is hardly a parking lot mogul. His career stretches back to 1972, and he’s argued five cases before the United States Supreme Court. He specializes in civil rights and disability cases.
Be advised that entrance to the lot is only from York Road.
