Jenkintown Music Theatre to host multiple performances of ‘Sweeney Todd the Demon Barber of Fleet Street’ in April, community food drive expanded

The Jenkintown Music Theatre (JMT) will host multiple performances of “Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” in April at The Kuykendall Auditorium at Jenkintown High School.

About Sweeney Todd

A tale of vengeance, obsession, and dark wit, Sweeney Todd follows an unjustly exiled barber who returns to nineteenth‑century London determined to seek justice against the corrupt judge who destroyed his life. Taking refuge above a struggling pie shop run by the resourceful Mrs. Lovett, Todd reopens his barbershop and forms a partnership as chilling as the London fog surrounding them.

With its bold storytelling, unforgettable characters, and Stephen Sondheim’s masterful score, Sweeney Todd remains one of musical theatre’s most iconic works. Whether you’re a devoted Sondheim enthusiast or discovering this story for the first time, this production promises to captivate from the opening whistle to the final haunting chord.

Community Food Drive

A nonprofit organization, JMT contributes annually to the Arts Departments at Jenkintown High School and provides monetary awards to graduating students who excel in the arts. This year, JMT will expand its commitment to arts education by extending contributions to the Cheltenham and Abington High School communities.

In addition to its educational support, JMT will be hosting a community food drive benefiting the Jenkintown Food Cupboard. With an anticipated audience of 1,800 patrons, JMT encourages attendees to bring a donation to help support local families in need.

Performances will be held April 10,11,12, 16, 17, and 18. For more information and tickets, you can click here.
