Jenkintown man arrested for attempted involuntary sexual contact with a juvenile, corruption of minors, and sexual abuse of children

The Bensalem Police Department announced today the arrest of Eric Karch, 53, of Jenkintown, who is accused of attempting to have involuntary sexual contact with a juvenile, corruption of minors, and sexual abuse of children, among other charges.

On September 6, Karch initiated a dating app conversation with a person he believed to be a 13-year-old female. Karch “quickly took the conversation in a sexual direction and told her that she should try to sleep naked, take photographs of herself while naked in bed, and send them to him,” police said. He later sent a picture of his penis and stated that he wanted to perform sexual acts with her.

The following week, Karch asked to meet the individual for a sexual encounter and asked again for nude photographs, the report said.

“He continued to describe all of the sexual acts he wanted to perform on her in explicit detail and told her that he wanted her to call him ‘daddy’ while she performed sexual acts on him,” the report said.

On September 11, Karch took a SEPTA bus from his Jenkintown home to meet the individual in Bensalem. Upon arrival, Bensalem police took Karch into custody and discovered condoms on his person.

No children were in danger during this investigation, police said. Karch was charged with Attempted Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse, Unlawful Contact with a Minor, Sexual Abuse of Children/Photo, Corruption of Minors, Criminal Use of a Communication Facility, and related offenses.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10% of $10,000,000 bail.
