Jenkintown Holiday Market nudged to Sunday due to weather concerns

Impending inclement weather has caused the The Jenkintown Holiday Market to adjust its plans. Originally scheduled for Saturday from 11:00am to 4:00pm, the event will now take place on Sunday from 1:30pm to 5:30pm in Jenkintown’s Town Square.

“The weather affects artwork and crafts much more than vegetables and food,” Ben Bergman, the market’s coordinator, said. “We didn’t want any pieces to be ruined by the weather, which as of today looks pretty unforgiving. Sunday’s supposed to be clear. We never want to change the date, but you have to think of everyone’s best interests.”

The Jenkintown Holiday Market will feature live music, local artisans, free coffee and apple cider from Whitehorse Coffee and Creamery. Local Jenkintown restaurants and storefront businesses will be offering specials throughout the day. A Holiday Open Mic will take place from 12:00pm to 3:00pm, hosted by Dylan Blazick and Alex Corson.

Updated vendor and participating Jenkintown businesses lists will be published by the Jenkintown Night Market before Sunday morning. For a current list of vendors, participating Jenkintown businesses and restaurants, and details on the Holiday Open Mic, you can visit Jenkintown Night Market’s website and the holiday event’s Facebook page. Parking details for the market are available here.

As far as Glenside Local knows, Jenkintown Borough’s Light Up the Square event is still scheduled for 6:00pm on Saturday. The event will feature a visit from Santa at 6:30pm, a performance by the Jenkintown Brass Ensemble, and a tree lighting ceremony at 6:45pm.
