This Small Business Saturday, November 29, the Jenkintown Food Cupboard is partnering with local merchants to host the Shop Small Hunger Crawl, a community-wide celebration of shopping local and giving local.
Throughout the weekend, residents are encouraged to visit Jenkintown’s small businesses and drop off canned goods or nonperishable items at one of several collection bin locations around town, including:
- Outside Second Chances Thrift
- Corner of West Avenue & Johnson Street
- Jenkintown Post Office
- Corner of Leedom & Greenwood Avenue
Participants can pick up a Shop Small Hunger Crawl punch card from any donation bin or at the Immaculate Church Bazaar, donate at the bins as they shop, and fill their punchcard for a chance to win the JFC Charity Raffle Basket — featuring a designer purse, a travel backpack, local restaurant gift cards, and a bottle of champagne.
“All around town, our small businesses are the beating heart of this community,” said Lino Ellis, Executive Director of the Jenkintown Food Cupboard. “This event is about linking that same community spirit with generosity — showing that every local purchase at a small business is it’s own contribution to our community”
