The Jenkintown Education Foundation (JEF) provided updates regarding the Legacy Park playground project which replaces the Jenkintown Community Playground castle behind the elementary school.
According to their notice, the current castle and tot lot play area will be demolished between March 28 and April 5, with construction work to be put up for bid on April 7.
$1,182,320 has been raised out of a goal of $1.5 million for Phase 1, which is expected to be completed this summer, the JEF said.

Goodbye Picnic on March 20
A Goodbye Picnic to honor the memories of the Jenkintown Castle will be held on Friday, March 20 from 3:30pm to 6:30pm, according to the JEF’s website.
“This will be the last chance to climb, play, swing and pretend on the structure before demolition over Spring Break,” the website says. “We will have picnic dinners for sale and an amazing auction of donated items from sports teams and local haunts. Games will be played and there will even be a chance to leave a goodbye message on the castle in sharpie for all to see in its final days.”
