Jenkintown Borough posthumously honors K-9 Kane who passed away in April

Jenkintown Borough Council presented a commemorative plaque to Officer Anthony Matteo and his family on Wednesday, June 27, as a posthumous recognition of K-9 Kane.

K-9 Kane, who passed away in April, was a dual-purpose service animal and served the Jenkintown Police Department’s Canine Unit from 2016 to 2020. He was expertly trained in narcotics detection and patrol operations, serving citizens throughout Montgomery and Bucks counties.

“The Borough of Jenkintown formally expresses its profound gratitude for his dedicated service and steadfast protection of our residents, business owners and the police department,” borough manager George Locke said in a post.
