Jenkintown 18-year-old charged with grand theft auto, arrested by Abington & Plumstead police after joint investigation

Adam Jonathan Soumahoro, 18, of Jenkintown, was arrested on Tuesday, June 6 after a joint investigation between the Plumstead Township Police Department and the Abington Township Police Department.

Soumahoro has been charged with the theft of a 2015 Hyundai Sonata which was parked on the Fred Bean Hyundai dealership lot in Plumstead Township, Bucks County, in September 2022.

He is additionally charged with criminal mischief involving at least two other vehicles that he and his accomplices damaged while attempting to steal those vehicles from the lot.

Soumaharo was arraigned before Magisterial District Justice Gary Gambardella, who set a $250,000 unsecured bail. Soumahoro is awaiting his preliminary hearing. 

Plumstead Police Department’s report notes that local law enforcement officials are aware of a recent “Tik Tok trend” in which youths are challenging one another to steal Kia and Hyundai model vehicles.
