Jefferson Health and the Bensalem Rescue Squad announced the expansion of the Mobile Stroke Unit into the Jefferson Abington Hospital service area.

The Mobile Stroke Unit, which can be compared to an Emergency Department on wheels, is now able to respond to stroke emergencies in Lower Moreland Township and Bryn Athyn Borough, the healthcare system said.

“The impact on the community and patient care will be tremendous as emergency care teams will be able to evaluate and treat patients curbside quickly and more efficiently,” their announcement said. “Time is brain—and every minute that passes following a stroke without proper treatment and care can result in serious brain injury.”
