Jefferson Abington Hospital has received the American Heart Association’s GoldPlus quality achievement award “for its commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines,” according to a statement.
To qualify, hospitals must meet specific criteria, including reducing the time between an eligible patient’s arrival at the hospital and treatment with thrombolytic therapy, or treatment to remove the clot causing a stroke.
Jefferson Abington received the following recognitions:
- Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus
- Target: Stroke Elite Plus Honor Roll
- Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll
- Target: Stroke Advanced Therapy Honor Roll
The hospital also met specific scientific guidelines as a Comprehensive Stroke Center.
“Here at Jefferson, we’re honored by this recognition. It validates our dedication to not only improving patient care, but also using research to translate guidelines into real-world action,” said Baligh R. Yehia, MD, MPP, MSc, FACP, President, Jefferson Health. “This translates to closing the gap in stroke care access and effectiveness, ultimately saving more lives and minimizing disability. As one of the nation’s leading stroke centers, Jefferson Health treats more than 5,000 patients annually with our team of highly trained specialists equipped to handle even the most complex cases.”
