Jefferson Abington earns highest designation for maternity care from U.S. News & World Report

Jefferson Health’s hospitals—including Jefferson Abington—have been recognized among the nation’s best as part of U.S. News & World Report’s annual list of Best Hospitals for Maternity Care.

Jefferson Abington Hospital, Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital, Jefferson Einstein Montgomery Hospital, and Jefferson Washington Township Hospital were all rated “High Performing,” the highest designation a facility can receive.

U.S. News & World Report’s methodology is based entirely on objective measures of quality, such as C-section rates in lower-risk pregnancies, newborn complication rates, exclusive breast milk feeding rates, early elective delivery rates, birthing-friendly practices, and transparency on racial/ethnic disparities.

Hospitals rated as “High-Performing” meet the highest standard of care for families with uncomplicated pregnancies. This year, 414 hospitals received “High-Performing,” and 403 hospitals participated in the Maternity Survey but did not receive “High-Performing.”

U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals for Maternity Care evaluation is designed to assist expectant parents, in consultation with their prenatal care team, in making informed decisions about where to receive maternity care that best meets their family needs.
