Huntingdon Valley empty nesters, parents of three Cheltenham High grads, feat by The Inquirer

Jerry and Amy Salem of Huntingdon Valley were recently featured by The Philadelphia Inquirer in an article titled “The Perfect 1970s home was just down the road“.

The Salems raised three Cheltenham High School graduates in Elkins Park before finding their new home, a 1970s-style property with “modern flair and original details, like the angled, double-height living room ceiling and corkscrew spiral staircase. Their interior design style, which leans eclectic with some Brutalist tendencies, would fit right in,” The Inquirer wrote.

Jerry, a 63-year-old senior software developer for Comcast, grew up in an Elkins Park home designed by a famous local architect. The story goes on to discuss the family’s appreciation for art, some of which comes from Amy’s family members and their now-adult children, and the home’s renovations, including the addition of a pool in 2022.

“That was some excitement for the neighborhood when that came down the road,” Amy said.
