Patrick Isztwan, 19, a Huntingdon Valley native and member of Huntingdon Valley Country Club (HVCC), recently defeated medalist Troy Vannucci in this week’s BMW Philadelphia Amateur Championship at HVCC. He advances into the Round of 16.
Isztwan defeated Vannucci of Little Mill Country Club, 4&3, in the Round of 32 Tuesday.
“I felt pretty good once I got to the first tee in the match. The way this course is you can make some big numbers. I feel a lot freer here when it’s match play and you don’t have to finish everything out,” said Isztwan, a rising junior at the University of Richmond. “I hit one bad shot you can just move on. In stroke play you can wrack it up here. Once I got the stroke portion done, I was ready and excited.”
The public is welcome to attend the 36-hole Championship Match which begins at 7:30am Saturday in Huntingdon Valley. The second 18 is slated to start at 12:00pm.
