For more than 30 years, Hunter Soccer Club has proudly supported its graduating seniors through its longstanding Scholarship Program—a tradition rooted in recognizing young athletes who embody loyalty, leadership, academic excellence, and service to both the club and the wider community.

The program was established by former Club President and current Chairman Ralph P. Bocchino, who envisioned a way to honor local student‑athletes whose commitment to Hunter Soccer extended far beyond the field. His mission endures today: to celebrate players who have grown through the program, excelled in the classroom, and given back through volunteerism and mentorship.

Each year, graduating seniors are invited to apply for these competitive scholarships. The selection process is overseen by Thad Macnamara, Hunter Board Member and current Abington Middle School 8th Grade Soccer Coach, who leads the Scholarship Committee with the same dedication he brings to developing young athletes.

Funding for the program is made possible through the club’s signature event—the Hunter Golf Outing Fundraiser—which has become the keystone source of support for these annual awards. Two of the scholarships hold special meaning within the Hunter community, named in honor of Norman Inazu, a former coach and player whose legacy continues to inspire, and Sharon Klein, a beloved Hunter alumnus.

This year marked a milestone for the club. In 2026, Hunter Soccer proudly recognized its largest class of scholarship recipients ever, awarding 10 outstanding student‑athletes with this distinguished honor.
