Hot pot restaurant coming to former Marco Polo site in Elkins Park Square

The former Marco Polo Ristorante & Bar site at Elkins Park Square will soon become a hot pot with a revolving sushi bar, according to today’s “Ask Mike anything” section in The Philadelphia Inquirer.

According to reporter Michael Klein’s response, the new occupant—dubbed “J Pot”—is expected to open in several months and their management has ties to John’s Sushi House in Fox Chase.

“Although alcoholic beverages will be offered, there’s no plan for a bar,” Klein wrote.

In September 2025, The Inquirer reported that Elkins Park Square at 8080 Old York Road in Cheltenham Township had been sold. The article mentioned that ownership was planning to open a new restaurant in the former Marco Polo location “but I’m told it won’t be a Marco Polo”.

The property went up for lease in January 2025 after its permanent closure two years prior. A mainstay for roughly 27 years, the property was a Gullifty’s prior.

Property records show the plaza is now managed by Philadelphia-based HK99 Realty LLC. Glenside Local has made several attempts at speaking with an agent about the plaza and Marco Polo’s replacement but did not receive a response.

More to come.
