Horace Simmons, La Salle standout, signs National Letter of Intent with Drexel

Horace Simmons, a 6’6″ senior power forward for La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor, has reportedly signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball for the Drexel Dragons beginning next fall.

During his junior season with the Explorers, Simmons averaged 14 points, 7.8 rebounds, two assists, 1.6 blocks and one steal per game. He was named Second Team All-Catholic League.

“Horace is a high character young man who fits the needs of our basketball program,” Drexel Head Coach Zach Spiker said. “We are excited to add another local player who can help us compete for a CAA title. He has the size and shot making ability that we value. Above all, he embodies our core values (Gratitude. Respect. Compete.) and the overall mission of Drexel University.”

Simmons received offers from high-profile D1 programs, including The University of Pennsylvania, Saint Joseph’s, Albany, Marquette, and Fairfield.
