Hiway Theater in Jenkintown to honor Paul Reuben’s passing with screening of Pee Wee’s Big Adventure

The Hiway Theater in Jenkintown will honor actor and comedian Paul Reubens, who passed away on Monday, July 31, with a screening of Pee Wee’s Big Adventure on Saturday, August 26.

Reubens was diagnosed with cancer six years ago but did not disclose his condition to the public.

“Please accept my apology for not going public with what I’ve been facing the last six years,” he wrote in a personal statement. “I have always felt a huge amount of love and respect from my friends, fans and supporters. I have loved you all so much and enjoyed making art for you.”

“Last night we said farewell to Paul Reubens, an iconic American actor, comedian, writer and producer whose beloved character Pee-wee Herman delighted generations of children and adults with his positivity, whimsy and belief in the importance of kindness,” according to a statement posted to his Facebook.

Admission is free for members of the theater and their kids. Tickets are available now at hiwaytheater.org/specials.
