Two years ago, David Bernstein, a 1975 Cheltenham High School graduate, was handed the Parnelli Lifetime Achievement Award by his oldest brother, famed rock photographer Joel Bernstein, a 1970 graduate of Cheltenham High.
According to local historian Chuck Langerman, the award is one of the industry’s highest honors for live event professionals. Previous recipients of this award have all been Production Managers or Tour Managers.
Bernstein has served clients from From Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young to Lady Gaga through his company, Rock-it Cargo, part of Rock-it Global.
The specialty freight forwarding and logistics company was built for entertainment touring, corporate live events, sports, television and film, and exhibitions industries. Today the global company has over 200 employees in 36 offices across the U.S. and around the world.

At the end of 2019, Bernstein stepped down as Rock-it Chairman and CEO but continues to serve as a member of the Board of Directors for Rock-it Global.
At Cheltenham High, David played the clarinet in the school band. Pictured on the right in the photo above is David on his first gig carrying Graham Nash’s guitar at age 12.
