Hatboro police are warning residents of a recent scam involving a caller claiming to be “Sgt. Gilbert” of the department.
According to their memo, the scammer is claiming that individuals have missed jury duty and is demanding payment to avoid arrest.
“The Hatboro Police Department does not employ anyone by the name of Sgt. Gilbert, and we will never call you to demand payment for missing jury duty,” the memo said. “If you receive a call from someone claiming to be Sgt. Gilbert or any other law enforcement officer demanding payment, do not provide any personal or financial information. Instead, hang up and contact the Hatboro Police Department directly to report the incident.”
