The Hatboro Police Department announced today the arrest of Orsolya Bereznai, 52, for striking a juvenile bicyclist and leaving the scene without rendering aid.
On March 30, Hatboro officers were dispatched to the intersection of S York Road and School Road for a vehicle accident involving a struck pedestrian. Arriving officers said that the striking vehicle, a black Toyota SUV with a partial tag of MTX, had fled the scene.
An investigation uncovered a video of the accident which shows a black SUV strike the bicyclist in the middle of the intersection, then pull over to the side of the road for a very brief period of time before driving away. The investigation found that Brill did not have the right of way, but that the driver will face criminal charges because she left the scene.
The investigation also revealed that Bereznai was the operator of the vehicle. She surrendered on the outstanding arrest warrant on April 10 and is awaiting arraignment, police said.
According to 6ABC’s coverage, Jaden Brill, the 14-year-old who was struck, was riding his bike on the sidewalk and entered a crosswalk. The vehicle was leaving the parking lot of a senior living community when it hit Brill.
Bereznai’s charges are below:
- (1 COUNT) 75 3742 (A) ACCIDENTS INVOLVING DEATH OR PERSONAL INJURY
- (1 COUNT) 75 3743 (A) ACCIDENT INVOLVING DAMAGE ATTENDED VEHICLE OR PROPERTY
- (1 COUNT) 75 3744 (A) FAILURE TO STOP AND GIVE INFORMATION OR RENDER AID
