Hatboro council president steps down after serving two terms

Hatboro Borough announced that council president George Bollendorf will be stepping down from his elected post, effective January 1, 2026.

President Bollendorf has served with borough council since 2018 and will continue serving as a council member. He was elected as president “due to his strong leadership and passion for our community,” the borough wrote, noting that he has only missed two meetings in eight years.

As president, Bollendorf created the Pennypack Events Committee and spearheaded events including the Sip N Shops, Parties in the Park, fireworks, Hat Drop, among others, officials said.

According to the borough’s website, president Bollendorf is also a career law enforcement officer with over 25 years of service and has been awarded numerous commendations for Bravery, Heroism and Merit. He previously coached and served as a board member of the Hatboro Little League.

“Please join Council, Mayor Schultz, and the Borough staff in thanking George for his leadership and all that he has done for the Borough in the last 8 years as Council President. We look forward to continuing to work with you in 2026 and throughout your next term on Borough Council,” the borough said in a post.
