Hair by Erica Loney & Company in Cheltenham Village, will soon be expanding to the former Studio 456 by Alma at 456 Easton Road in Glenside.

Owner Erica Loney, an East Oak Lane resident and a former Cheltenham resident for 17 years, purchased the original brick-and-mortar building at 300 Ryers Avenue 10 years ago. She said the second location will give her stylists more breathing room on busy days.

“It’s a small boutique space and we’ve noticed that when we’re really busy, it starts to feel really tight. We began looking for a second location to be able to better service our customers,” she said, noting that the previous owner, Alma Katro, who passed away in December, was a known fixture in the Glenside community.

“It was a beloved salon for many, many years. It’s more than double the space and is completely set up,” she said. “I want to bring the space alive again and honor Ms. Katro by keeping the location a family-based salon.”

Loney and company expect to sign the lease for September 1 hope to officially open sometime that month. The name of the new salon will remain the same, minus the town: Hair by Erica Loney & Company in Glenside.

“We’re a give-back-the-community salon. We’ve always supported the Cheltenham Little League among other endeavors. We’ll work hard to continue that by giving back to Glenside,” Loney said. “We’re a LGBTQIA+-supportive salon. We want to make sure everyone feels safe in our space. We’ve also been known to be recommended by CHOP as a safe space.”

Loney will manage the new Glenside location. She said she’ll be looking to hire stylists and support staff soon.
