Grandma Jannah’s Ice Cream Parlor in Jenkintown to host grand opening this weekend

Grandma Jannah’s Ice Cream Parlor is hosting a grand opening on Saturday, April 13 at the former Bilal’s Bakery Deli at 723 West Avenue in Jenkintown.

The new shop is co-owned by Jamela Yahiaoui and Ahmad Watson. The grand opening is from 12:00pm to 7:00pm and will feature face paint, balloon animals, and all the ice cream you can eat.

“Grandma Jannah’s Ice Cream Parlor is dedicated to a woman known for her passion for beautiful things, ice cream, and her family, fondly referred to as Grandma Jannah by her grandchildren,” Watson said. “It is located on a little yet lively street, fitting as that is how her family and friends would describe Jannah. She passed away due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and this pink palace is a reminder of her sweetness.”

Watson noted that her family’s objective is to give back to the community in her name, and to be a place of comfort and joy for anybody who walks in.

“It is about more than just ice cream for them; they see this as an opportunity to bring people together in a way Jannah always loved to do. Grandma Jannah’s offers a variety of sweet treats, one of which is a sundae named after Jannah herself. You enter the doors for dessert and leave as a part of a woman’s legacy,” Watson said.

“I’m glad we’re able to keep the Bilal’s location going, and I hope we’re able to see some of their customers circle back around to us,” Yahiaoui said.
