Gov. Shapiro to speak at Democratic National Convention tonight

Governor Josh Shapiro of Abington is expected to be one of the speakers at the Democratic National Convention tonight in Chicago, CBS reported today.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is scheduled to deliver the keynote address and will officially accept the Democratic vice presidential nomination. Harris will officially accept the Democratic nomination Thursday night, the final day of the DNC.

Other speakers include former President Bill Clinton, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, CBS said.

Shapiro’s timeslot is unknown as of 3:30pm, though Scripps News reported that he will have a primetime slot. The convention’s Day 3 will start at 6:30pm.

Shapiro addressed the convention briefly on Tuesday when he casted Pennsylvania’s 178 delegates for Harris.

You can watch the convention via the DNC’s website, C-SPAN’s website, or CBS’s streaming platform, CBS News 24/7 (which doesn’t begin until 8:00pm).
