Gov. Shapiro proclaims April 20-24 National Work Zone Awareness Week

Governor Josh Shapiro proclaimed this week National Work Zone Awareness Week in Pennsylvania.

The proclamation states that the week is “an annual reminder at the start of construction season to raise public awareness and encourage safe driving through highway work zones” and recognizes the “strength and resilience of our Pennsylvania highway construction and maintenance workers and their commitment to the safety of our roadways.”

The document also notes that Pennsylvania had approximately 1,392 crashes in work zones resulting
in 12 fatalities and 806 injuries in 2025.
