Goat House Creamery and Melrose Service Center in Elkins Park were targeted by the same burglar early Thursday morning, 6ABC reported this evening.
According to the story, the thief smashed the glass of Melrose Service Center in the 7700 block of Montgomery Avenue just before 1:30am. Goat House Creamery, which is located a block and a half away in the 7900 block of High School Road, was hit next.
Roughly $200 were stolen from the businesses, each of which had to be boarded up. Police said they found evidence in High School Park.
“Eventually they determined that a cash box from the creamery, as well as the cash drawer from the service station, are both taken. Both were recovered by police short distances away. We’re currently processing that for physical evidence, DNA and fingerprints,” said Lt. Andrew Snyder of the Cheltenham Township Police Department..
“As far as physical damage to the property it was significant. The community support has been tremendous,” Jason Winfield, owner of Goat House Creamery, told 6ABC.
According to surveillance footage, the suspect has a black and blue jacket, a covered face, ripped black jeans “and something red on his left hand.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Cheltenham police.
