Glenside’s first Cone with a Cop

Cone with a Cop came to Glenside for the first time on Wednesday evening. From 5:00pm to 7:00pm, area residents took the opportunity to meet representatives of law enforcement and fire companies.

Mr. Softee made an appearance as well.

“The community is our most important concern. We’re only successful with their support,” said police chief Jeff Murphy. “If we can hand out an ice cream cone to help that happen, all the better.”

Cone with a Cop made three previous stops this summer in Lamott, Elkins Park, and Cheltenham. Fire companies throughout the township have partnered with the event.

“We have a good working relationship with the police,” former fire marshal Bob Scholly said. “I served with the fire company for 65 years, and it’s always been that way.”

Late September will see the event transition back to Coffee with a Cop. Community member can expect more opportunities to meet first responders throughout the year.
