Shameeka Browne, a Glenside resident and member of the Abington School District Board of School Directors, will participate in Montgomery County’s Black Author and Business Expo on Saturday, August 22 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center.
Browne will showcase Math Is All Around Us LLC, a math-centric education company she founded in April 2025.
A seasoned math teacher, Browne said she believes that mathematics extends far beyond the classroom. Through books, workshops, family engagement experiences, and educational products, the company encourages children and families to recognize the mathematics embedded in everyday life.
“Math Is All Around Us is more than the name of my business. It is a message I have shared with students and families for years,” Browne said. “I want children to see that mathematics belongs to them. Their experiences, their cultures, their families, and their stories all have a place in mathematics.”
At the Expo, Browne will also feature her published books and introduce readers to her upcoming release.
Queen of 24
Browne’s debut children’s book follows a young Black girl as she develops her mathematical confidence and perseverance while competing in the 24® Game. The story celebrates problem- solving, resilience, and the joy that can come from seeing yourself as a mathematician.
Your Kiss Is Enough
Written for younger readers, Your Kiss Is Enough combines early mathematics, family love, and a powerful message of affirmation. Through counting and one-to-one correspondence, the story demonstrates that communication and connection can take many forms while reminding every child that they are enough.
7 Slides Around the World
Scheduled for publication in December 2026, Browne’s third book takes readers on a mathematical journey around the world. Through transformations, culture, travel, and storytelling, the book invites middle-grade readers to explore how mathematics connects people and places across the globe.
