Greater Glenside Patriotic Association announces nomination criteria for Little Mr. & Miss Glenside, appoints Bud Gerhard parade Grand Marshal

The Greater Glenside Patriotic Association (GGPA) recently shared the details of this year’s Little Mr. and Miss Glenside nomination criteria.

Nominations can be submitted to info@glensideparade.com and will be accepted until 12:00pm on Saturday, June 24. Winners of the contest will be announced on Monday, June 26.

Please ensure the following information is provided/criteria are met:

1. Provide child’s name, address, age, school, grade going into, guardian name, and guardian contact number in the email
2. Email subject should state: Little Glenside Nomination
3. Child must be between 6-11 years old
4. Child must live in Glenside
5. Child must be available on July 4th for morning program (10 am – 12 pm) and the parade (starts at 4 pm)

Note: There will NOT be nomination boxes in any of the local shops this year.
*Please, only one nomination per child.*

In related news, retired Weldon Fire Company Chief Charles “Bud” Gerhard has been chosen to serve as this year’s parade Grand Marshal.

Gerhard, who served over four decades with Weldon Fire Company, is a lifelong Glenside resident and
retired in 2022 after having mentored countless volunteer firefighters and officers. He played a vital role in helping make Weldon an established, prepared and highly respected suburban fire company.

Gerhard remains active with his family-owned and Glenside-based business, Gerhard Appliances. He and his wife Suzanne are the parents of seven children.

The selection was announced on Monday, June 12 by Jamey Piggott, GGPA president.
