Glenside insurance agent accused of forging information in $600K sales commissions scheme, AG says

Dennis Wright, 42, a Glenside resident and insurance agent who fabricated hundreds of life insurance policies to earn more than $600,000 in commissions, was charged with felony theft by deception, identity theft, insurance fraud, and related offenses, Attorney General Dave Sunday announced on Monday.

Wright was arraigned and bail was set at $100,000.

“This defendant betrayed clients and dishonored his position to line his own pockets when he was trusted to make insurance arrangements that would have provided peace of mind and financial security for Pennsylvanians,” Attorney General Sunday said. “Insurance fraud is far from a victimless crime, and my office takes it very seriously.”

An investigation found that Wright exploited his position as a licensed life insurance agent to defraud provider National Guardian Life Insurance (NGL) between June 2020 and February 2022. During that time, he created 332 fraudulent life insurance policies by forging personal information and signatures—without those individuals’ knowledge or consent—in order to obtain sales commissions.

Wright also created businesses to launder the commissions received from NGL, which totaled $603,000, Attorney General Sunday said.
