Glenside Farmers Market highlights

The Glenside Farmers Market located at the Glenside train station has served the local community for better than a decade. Combined with Elcy’s Cafe, it makes a great way to start a busy summer Saturday. We love all the vendors that show up for our area markets. You can always count on great produce and fresh meats and dairy products, but here’s a few pleasant surprises.

Pictured above, Herrcastle Farmwas one of several fresh produce vendors at last Saturday’s Glenside Farmer’s Market. We went home with four ears of sweet, delicious corn, our first of the season.

Domalvia, Carribean Inspired Skincare

Upon first glance, these soaps look like tasty desserts, but they’re hand-made and the whimsical designs makes you think of blue lagoons and cool sea breezes. Brenda Core has more on display at her Facebook page.

Kelly-Green Acres

I got a great lesson on sprouts after talking to Jennifer Wiley from Kelly-Green Acres. Silly me, I used to think that sprouts were something you added to a salad to give it texture, however once taste of the radish sprouts changed my mind. The right sprout can add a ton of flavor with less than an ounce of sprouts.

Althouse Farm

It’s almost impossible for me to walk past a display of homemade preserves without buying something. We walked away with a jar of the peach habanero because we can’t resist anything sweet-hot, and if it’s peach, it’s a slam dunk. Althouse Farm is located in Holtwood, Pennsylvania, but you can buy their jams at this website.
