Glenside Area Soon to Have Seven Screen Multiplex Theater

Penn Cinema, a family-owned and independently operated movie theater company,  is in the process of opening a new, seven-screen, multiplex theater, in Abington Township in 2019.

Penn Cinema was founded in 2006 by Penn Ketchum, the late John Byler, Jonathan Byler and Robert Tucci, all of Lititz, PA. They currently have one location in Lancaster County, another in Wilmington, DE, and will be opening their third multiplex this fall, in Huntingdon Valley. In addition to Hunting Valley, Penn Cinema is currently in preliminary plans of opening a second Montgomery County and fourth overall location, in Abington Township.

Philly.com reported on March 2, that “Penn Cinema said Wednesday that it will open upscale, seven-screen multiplexes in shopping centers in Upper Moreland and the Glenside section of Abington. ”

Co founder Penn Ketchum stated, “With regards to our 4th location, we are pleased to be working with New Century Associates on a site in Abington, PA. But for right now we are entirely focused on getting Huntingdon Valley up and running. I’d like to see Abington follow right behind in 2019” –

The new theaters will feature all luxury power-recliners, state of the art digital and sound systems and a concession stand featuring a wood-fired pizza oven among other amenities.
