Frentu Fades, a barber shop in the Keswick Village section of Glenside, officially opened at 251 N Keswick Avenue in October.
Henry Estilo, the shop’s owner, is a military veteran and a third-generation barber originally from the Dominican Republic. He’s been in the area for about six years.
“I served in the US Navy in 2006 as a military police officer and I’ve been cutting hair since I was 16 years old,” Estilo said.

“Things have been going well and I’ve been well received by the community,” he said.
Estilo hopes to contribute to greater Glenside through free-of-cost Men’s Mindfulness Meetings, held inside his shop every third Monday of the month.
“One of my close friends owns his own mindfulness company, so that’s how we’re able to offer it for free,” he said. “I’m trying to do the right thing and the best thing for the community.”
Estilo additionally sponsored the “Best Exterior” prize for today’s Keswick Car and Music Festival.
