Frank Rizzo statue has a connection to Glenside

The hubbub over the status of the Frank Rizzo statue at the City of Philadelphia’s Municipal Services Building has a connection to Glenside. The statue was made by Glenside-based sculpture Zenos Frudakis.

There is an effort to remove the statue due to Rizzo’s record. Frudakis, who doesn’t align politically with Rizzo, believes that instead of removing the statue, that other art should be added to the plaza where Rizzo stands today to offer a contrasting message.

Philadelphia Magazine interviewed Frudaskis about the issue and has a lot more detail on what he believes is the solution. You can read that article here.
