The Montgomery County Department of Public Safety announced today that its Fort Washington facility is now fully staffed with Urban Search & Rescue Team personnel to provide coverage for tonight’s potential storm.
Officials said the team is divided into two squads: One specializing in swiftwater rescue and highwater evacuation and the other is dedicated to all-hazards responses, collapse, and search.
“Flooding: We are in the MODERATE risk category (3 out of 4) for flash flooding. 1.5-2.5″ of rain is expected across the area, with locally higher amounts exceeding 5″,” the department said in a post. “Do not drive or walk through flooded roadways. Turn Around, Don’t Drown!”
