Former Montco chief information officer files wrongful termination lawsuit, alleges ‘fraud, waste, wrongdoing’ among county officials

Anthony Olivieri, Montgomery County’s former chief information officer, has filed a lawsuit against the county claiming that he was terminated because he requested accommodations for his mental health, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Olivieri, who claims he suffered from “anxiety, panic and depression complications,” was terminated in July after taking a medical leave of absence from November 2024 to January 2025. The issues continued in part because of “mistreatment” and a hostile work environment, the complaint says,

The suit also calls out instances of “fraud, waste, wrongdoing” by Montgomery County officials since 2017. Allegations include Dean Dortone, the county’s chief financial officer, who, according to the suit, helped to ensure the county’s $5 million appointment of ePlus Inc., a company he had previously worked for over five years. The company was then permitted “to charge the maximum allowed instead of invoicing according to need”, according to The Inquirer’s coverage.

Olivieri also said “that the county sent $500,000 to an impostor in 2017 and concealed the wire transfer to avoid embarrassment, and that in 2024 and 2025 the county claimed to have saved over $1 million by revamping printing infrastructure in offices even though the changes ‘did not happen’, The Inquirer wrote.

The lawsuit was filed on December 1 and can be found here.
