Forecasters issue Winter Weather Advisory Friday afternoon through Saturday morning

The National Weather Service (NWS) announced that a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for greater Glenside and surrounding areas beginning at 1:00pm on Friday, December 26 until 10:00am on Saturday.

Accumulating snowfall is expected as sleet and freezing rain gradually mix in on Friday, forecasters said.

Mostly clear, with a low around 22. North wind 5 to 10 mph.

Friday

A chance of snow between 3pm and 5pm, then snow and sleet likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 29. North wind around 5 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Friday Night

Snow and sleet before 1am, then snow and freezing rain, possibly mixed with sleet between 1am and 4am, then snow and freezing rain after 4am. Low around 25. East wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Saturday

A chance of snow and freezing rain before 1pm, then a slight chance of snow. Cloudy, with a high near 35. North wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

A chance of rain and snow after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
