The GIANT Company announced this week that flu and pneumonia vaccinations are now available at all of their pharmacies. 

Walk-ins are welcome but customers can also make an appointment if they prefer. Most insurance plans cover flu shots at $0 copays*, including Medicare Part B.

“During the last few weeks of summer, it’s hard to think about cold and flu season, but it will be here before we know it,” said Nick Koch, director of pharmacy and wellbeing. “Now is the time to plan for your upcoming immunizations to protect yourself and your family, especially flu shots which are recommended annually. You can conveniently get immunized against flu and pneumonia while shopping for groceries, no appointment is needed.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone six months and older get a flu vaccination annually, ideally by October.

GIANT pharmacies also offer pneumococcal vaccinations, which can be administered at the same time as a flu shot. The CDC recommends the pneumococcal vaccination for all children younger than five years old and all adults 50 years or older.

In greater Glenside, GIANT grocery stores exist in Roslyn (2350 Susquehanna Road), Jenkintown (93 Old York Road), Flourtown (1874 Bethlehem Pike), Huntingdon Valley (737 Huntingdon Pike), and Willow Grove (315 N York Road). The full list of pharmacies is here.
