Flood Watch issued for greater Glenside Friday into Saturday

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for greater Glenside and surrounding areas beginning Friday morning through Saturday afternoon.

Periods of heavy rain will begin to move in late tonight and may continue through Saturday, forecasters said. Rainfall rates may exceed 1 to 2 inches per hour.

“Post-Tropical Cyclone Beryl expected to bring Severe Thunderstorms, heavy rain and flooding to parts of the Midwest, eastern Great Lakes, and Northeast,” the NWS said in a post. “The remnants of Beryl will move through the Ohio Valley and Northeast U.S. Wednesday with heavy rainfall which may bring flooding and a few severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and tornadoes. Dangerous heat will continue in the Western U.S. and parts of the East.”

Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 11am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 11am and 5pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 85. Southwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
